The First Bench of the High Court of Madras, comprising Chief Justice M Y Eqbal and Mr Justice Sivagnanam ruled that UES (Uniform Education System) should be implemented from classes I to X this academic year itself. It also directed the State Government to distribute UES Textbooks to all schools by July 22 and also to constitute a new panel in three months to rectify the defects in the UES.
Advocate General Navaneetha Krishnan said the government would file an appeal in the Supreme Court challenging the High Court order. The petitioners on their part, said they would also file a caveat in the Supreme Court seeking to hear their views before passing any orders on the State government's plea in the Supreme.
The Court after hearing elaborate arguments from both sides on July 12, had reserved its orders and gave the verdict today.
Now the Supreme Court will have to decide the case.
