BSNL rationalises SMS tariff as per TRAI's Regulation



Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has announced rationalization of its SMS Packs in order to implement the TRAI’s Regulations to sets a cap of 100 SMSs per day per users.

BSNL has withdrawn some of its SMS pack and introduced NEW SMS packs at Rs. 32, Rs. 21, Rs. 14 and Rs. 53 with revised validity and 100 SMS per day cap as per TRAI’s regulation.  Existing BSNL SMS Pack users can enjoy the offerings at present tariff/ Free SMS till the expiry of the current SMS STVs.  All new SMS Pack comes with the cap of 100 SMS/day and will be available from 27th September 2011.

All the new SMS Pack STVs are applicable to customers while in HOME LSA & while on National Roaming across India too.  The SMS STVs/SMS Packs under 2G & 3G Prepaid mobile services will not be applicable on “Blackout days” for which normal SMS charges as per plan will be applicable.

Good news, Google plus is now  open to everyone. After making some improvements, they have come up with the final version so that everyone can use this very efficiently . Millions of people were waiting since its beta launch for limited users can now get Google+ invitation directly from the Google site. Passport Seva Kendras in Chennai City becomes operational for citizens

The Regional Passport Office, Chennai will function in the new address: Rayala Towers, 4th floor, New No.158, Anna Salai, Chennai 600002 (Near Spencers)

Three Passport Seva Kendras under the jurisdiction of Regional Passport Office, Chennai has been functional from 16th September, 2011 for citizens in the Districts of Chennai City, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri Kancheepuram, karaikkal, Krishnagiri, Puducherry, Thiruvallur, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Vellore in Tamilnadu and Puducherry.

The Passport Seva Kendras will function from Monday to Friday from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM with lunch time break from 1.30 PM to 2.00 PM.

The addresses of Passport Seva Kendras are:

1.      VADAPALANI – No.1, Bhanumathi Ramakrishna Road, Saligramam, Chennai 600093
2.      AMINJIKARAI – Navins Presidium, No.103, Nelson Manickam Road, Aminjikarai, Chennai 600029
3.      TAMBARAM – Claret Complex, Old No.4a & 4b, New No.17 & 19 Duraisamy Reddy Street, Tambaram, Chennai 600045

Full capacity online appoints open from 1st October 2011.

Procedure for Online Application in the Passport Seva System:

1.            Log on to website, www.passportindia.gov.in
2.            Create your user ID and assign a password
3.            Fill & submit the application form online or download the e-Form, fill and upload the same in the website. You can also scan & upload relevant supporting documents.
4.            You should note the Application Reference Number (ARN), schedule an appointment and take printout of Application Slip
5.            You should visit the designated Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)
6.            Applicant’s present is mandatory alongwith all required original documents and photocopies. 
7.            Your photograph will be capture at the PSK.
8.            You can track the status of your application or get any assistance by calling 1800-258-1800 or logging on to www.passportindia.gov.in


Important information to note:

1.      Only applications with prior appointment will be processed at Passport Seva Kendra.  Walk-in applicants will be allowed in emergency cases only.
2.      From 1st October 2011 onwards, full appointments as per the total capacity at PSKs will be opened to public while Regional Passport Office will stop accepting applications, except for emergency cases.
3.      Applicants who have already taken appointments in the existing system should visit Regional Passport Office to submit their applications.
4.      Appoints are made available on the website on a first-come-first-serve basis, with a 3 day lead time.
5.      District Passport Cells (DPCs) will continue to accept applications for passport services. DPCs will accept applications for Fresh Passport only (No Re-Issue, Lost/ Damaged / Miscellaneous Services).  Applicants must submit their details in the new application form ONLY.  Applicants may download the new Application Form from the online portal (www.passportindia.gov.in), take a print-out, manually fill in and submit the same in the DPCs.
6.      In the new system, all miscellaneous services will fall under ‘Re-issue) category.  Therefore, the services will be classified as Fresh, Re-issue and PCC.
7.      Citizens who have applied for a passport in the old system will have to track the application in the old system only and call centre will not give information pertaining to the old system.

Special trains to clear extra rush


Southern Railways will run the following special trains to clear extra rush of passengers

1) T. No.06083 Chennai Central – Nagercoil Special (via. Chennai Egmore)

Train will leave Chennai Central at 13.40 hrs. on 22.9.2011 and arrive Nagercoil at 05.15 hrs. on 23.9.2011. Stoppages will be at Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Ariyalur, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudunagar, Sattur, Kovilpatti, Vanchi Maniyachchi, Tirunelveli and Valliyur.


2) Chennai Central – Mangalore Superfast Specials (via. Coimbatore)

Train will leave Chennai Central at 20.45 hrs. on 16.9.2011 and arrive Mangalore Central at 13.00 hrs. 0n 17.9.2011. Stops at at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Shoranur, Kuttipuram, Tirur, Kozhikkode, Vadakara, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyanur, Kanhangad and Kasaragod.

3) T. No.06084 Nagercoil – Chennai Egmore Superfast Special

Train will leave Nagercoil at 17.05 hrs. on 27.9.2011 and arrive Chennai Egmroe at 06.00 hrs. on 28.9.2011. Stoppages at Valliyur, Tirunelveli, Vanchi Maniyachchi, Kovilpatti, Sattur, Virudunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Vriddhachalam, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tambaram and Mambalam..

Reservation for the above trains can be made from 14.9.2011.

Onam Special train - Chennai Central to Kochuveli

Southern Railways has introduced a special superfast train from Chennai Central to Kochuveli

Train no.06081 Chennai Central – Kochuveli – Chennai Central Superfast Specials will leave Chennai Central at 15.15 hrs. on 7.9.2011 and arrive Kochuveli at 07.10 hrs. on 10.9.2011.

Train no. 06082 Kochuveli – Chennai Central Superfast Special will leave Kochuveli at 13.45 hrs on 10.9.2011 and arrive Chennai Central at 06.15 hrs. on 11.9.2011.

The composition of the trains will be 1 AC 3-tier, 8 Sleeper Class, 4 General Second Class, 2 lugguage-cum-brake van coaches.

The trains will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Chenganaseri, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayankulam and Kollam.

Advance reservation for the above trains will commence on 06.09.2011.
